A Flemish cottage in the heart of the Meetjesland Creek area. The willow-lined canals, lush green pastures and extensive soft, sandy dunes of Flanders need no introduction; their beauty has been captured for centuries by some of the world's greatest artists. The Meetjesland, however, is known only to a discerning few, yet it has much to offer anyone seeking peace and quiet. Its one of those rare corners of Western Europe where time has virtually stood still and man has barely changed the face of nature. Today its a land of creeks and polders, tall fields, «sleeping» dikes, woods and old smugglers routes. Close to Ghent, Bruges, Antwerp, Middelburg, Brussels, North Sea Coast, Lille ( France ) etc..... The cottage (220sqm) situated together with the mainhouse on property of 5.000 sqm with own private lake. A real paradise for " gardenlovers" and people who are interested in historical towns, good restaurants and nature.

We are a couple 53 and 50 yo / non smoking. Two children, son 30 yo living since 10 years in NY / New Jersey - US and daughter 30 yo living in Brussels area. Our cottage is situated atop an old dike, 2 kilometers from the village of Assenede. The village is one of the oldest villages in Flanders Activities in the Assenede area include tennis - bowling - golf -sailing - surfing - tropical in- and outdoor swimming-pool - fishing - bicycling - hiking - kayak - etc We speak also Dutch, parle Français, sprechen Deutsch, hablo poco Espagnol, Causse Créole Non Simultaneous Exchange possible. We are experienced travelers and have done a lot of exchanges the last 12 years the most people have become friends for life.
