It is a large airy Victorian villa, with 2 bedrooms available for swaps, a comfortable sitting-room with TV, and a spacious kitchen/dining room with a sitting area looking out over the pleasant garden.

The house is in a leafy, quiet neighbourhood, close to the trendy Queens Road shops, bars, restaurants and cafés.

About the location

My house is situated in Clarendon Park (rated by the Sunday Times as the best place to live in the East Midlands) in a quiet leafy street close to the trendy Queens Road with it's shops, cafés, bars and restaurants, Victoria Park and the University of Leicester.

The historic city centre is a one mile away, accessible via a 10 minute bus ride or a pleasant half-hour walk through Victoria Park and along New Walk, a delightful tree-lined Victorian walkway, that takes you past the Museum and Art Gallery.

There is plenty to do in the city centre. Curve Theatre is renowned for top-rate musicals and the Phoenix Cinema offers art-house films. There are good restaurants in the city centre and nearby London Road. Belgrave Road, the 'golden mile' , offers a great choice of Asian cuisine. Also worth a visit is the King Richard 3rd Centre, which explores the story of the discovery of the lost King's remains (the 'King under the car park') and re-internment in the Cathedral. Medieval and Roman sites are nearby in the Lanes area, and there are lovely walks and cycles along the river and canal which run through the city past Leicester City football ground.

Abbey Park, Bradgate Park and Aylestone Meadows are interesting and good for walking, and the National Trust properties, Stoneywell and Ulverscroft Nature Reserve, are well worth a visit.

Leicester is also ideally placed for exploring the East Midlands, with its pretty villages, country walks and pubs. Further afield, you could also do day visits to Stamford, Stratford-on-Avon. Birmingham and Nottingham are easily accessible by train. Rutland Water is a pleasant day trip, 45minutes drive away, and offers pleasant walking, sailing and cycling round the lake, with bikes for hire if needed.
