About the location

Our home is in the historic village of Luddenden (see: www.Luddenden.com) , approximately three miles from Hebden Bridge or the centre of Halifax, both include Victorian railway stations with excellent rail links to the major cities of Yorkshire and Lancashire.

Hebden Bridge is a vibrant small town with a thriving artistic community. There are lots of cafes, great pubs with excellent beer and food and superb walking country. The town
regularly wins accolades as a unique shopping experience with hardly any `chains` and lots of interesting small shops. There is a community run cinema where you can get a cup of hot chocolate and home made flapjack with your ticket. What`s not to love!

The local area is rich with history, inc Hardcastle Craggs, Howarth, the Piece Hall, Shibden Hall and opportunities for outdoor activities such as walking and cycling (road & mountain) the website www.visitcalderdale.com is definitely worth a look.

Only an hour`s drive away you`ll find historic Bolton Abbey, Fountains Abbey, the town of Harrogate and, of course, the Yorkshire Dales.
Leeds and Manchester lie within one hour by train - cities renowned for award-winning retail therapy, restaurants, museums and theatres. (see https://www.yorkshire.com/)

Yorkshire was voted Europe`s Leading Destination at the World Travel Awards 2013 and again in 2014. More recently West Yorkshire took seventh spot on the 2019 National Geographic `Cool List`.
